Summer Internship Program Info
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Every summer School of Rock welcomes campers into our school to start their musical journey with us. The camp season offers existing students in our Performance Program the opportunity to spend some of their summer immersed in music and fun.
WHAT DO INTERNS DO?
Interns help campers feel part of the band, assist campers in learning their parts, and rehearsing like we do in Performance Program or Rock 101. Interns also assist Camp Directors and pretty much do whatever is needed to help the camp session rock to the fullest. They also clean up the school at the end of the day so we can continue to rock our regular programs.
WHY BE AN INTERN?
Being an intern can be an amazing opportunity to show what you know and to grow in your musicianship as you teach others and pay it forward. Interns gain leadership skills, learn how to socially interact with campers, get service hours/job experience, and experience what it's like to be responsible for the outcome of a team's mission. Plus, it's fun to hang out with your friends (and make new ones)!
ELIGIBILITY
Must be 12+ years old
Are an active member of the Performance Program and will be in the summer Performance Program season
Are able to follow directions and not need to be managed - in other words you act like an Intern, not a camper
Must attend a pre-camp in person training with Music Director (specific dates & times TBD)
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
If you are planning to audition for JV or House Band (or stay in House Band), you must intern for 2 sessions of camp or be a Rookies or Rock 101 Intern in our year round programs for a minimum of 30 hours. Why do we require this? Because our House Band members set the pace and leadership within our community. Simple as that.
COST
There is no additional cost for this program. However, Interns must be enrolled in the Performance Program for the summer season.
